I have been busy over the past few weeks working on some commissions that I had from the North Bristol Arts Trail. They have just been finished!!! It feels great to have completed them, and they look fantastic! I love creating work to order, but it is always more of a challenge to ensure that everything is as the customer expects! Just waiting to have the last couple collected, but so far I've had some great feedback!!!

As quickly as it comes, its always over even quicker! The North Bristol Arts Trail this year was once again fantastic. Loads of people came to see us regardless of the weather! It was lovely to see so many people - thank you so much for coming!!! I did something a little different this time and showed a few photos alongside the metalwork and jewellery pieces. This put the work into context and enabled everyone to see how the designs developed. I had fantastic feedback about the new work, so it will be full steam ahead as i've got so many ideas to start working on!!!
Thanks again to everyone that came to see me there! I'm looking forward to next year already! I can't believe that its already time for the Arts Trail. This year has just flown by in a bit of a blur - this means I have been neglectful of things like this blog, but incredibly busy with everything else! I've had a few commissions over the past few months including some wedding rings!
I've also been working hard on some new ranges which will be shown at the trail. I'm really excited about this new work - it builds on all my previous work, but also represents a massive step forward in terms of design and technique! I am so excited about showing it!!! Images will be put onto the website soon, but unfortunately you will have to wait until after the show! This year I am showing at 16 Longfield Road (BS7 9AG) with the talented textile artist Kate Tarling. The trail is open on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th 10am-6pm and we are also having a private view on the Friday night 7-9pm. We would love to see you there! For more information about the trail check out the website www.northbristolartists.org.uk Since the suummer I have been taking lots of photos. These have been forming an important part of my practice and often act as a starting point in the development of new ideas, designs and concepts. The photos that have recently been influential have fallen into 2 main types; structures and textures. These have all been taken locally and definitely reflect the area. I thought I would post a few for you to have a look at!
2011 was a fantastic year with loads happening and lots of progress, but I can't believe that we are now starting a brand new year! I am sure its going to be a good one - busy, with lots of change and challenges, but I can't wait to see what happens and I intend on enjoying every moment!
Wishing you all a fantastic year! The North Bristol Arts Trail was a fantastic weekend!!! I just wanted to thank everyone that came to see me there - it was lovely to meet so many people and chat about my work. It is always strange to show work for the first time after working away in complete solitude, so receiving such positive feedback was fantastic and makes all the hard work worth while!
I am now looking forward to showing there again next year!!! I can't believe it has been so long sine I last posted on here. Needless to say I have been incredibly busy. With only a week to go before the North Bristol Arts Trail opens I am finishing off all my new work in preparation. As always I am looking forward to it, but its always nerve-racking showing new work for the first time!
This time I am showing my work with 2 fantastic printmakers; Ella Rice and Julie Taylor at 16 Berkshire Road, Bishopston, Bristol. For more information about the show go to http://www.northbristolartists.org.uk I look forward to seeing you there!!!! As promised here are some photos of some of the new designs I have been working on. For some reason it has taken me a while to finish them off, but I am pleased with the end result!
I would love to find out what you think of them! I have been busy recently trying to get some new designs finished.
As you can see this has resulted a complete mess - but I hope that's just part of the process! I plan on finishing the pieces soon so I can let you see what I have been up to! I have recently returned from a short trip away. It was an opportunity to relax, unwind and spend some time doing those things which I never normally have time to do!
While there we went for some fantastic walks including one along a river which had some beautiful waterfalls. I took some photos along the way which I thought I would share with you. They are not beautiful photos of fantastic landscapes or views, but the little details that I thought were interesting and inspiring. Some of the photos are even a little blurry, but I hope you can see why I have included them! |
